Gingivitis and Periodontitis

The terms of  "periodontal disease" and "gum disease"  refers  both of gingivitis and periodontitis.

Gingivitis is defined as  inflammatory condition of  gingiva. Some factors such as smoking, use of certain drugs and hormonal changes due to puberty and pregnancy modifies Gingivitis.

Following gingivitis ; periodontitis  is  influenced by the individual's immune  reaction. It is occured by microbial plaque. Periodontitis  destruct  the supporting structure of the teeth. So obviously , periodontitis is one of the most significant dental diseases which causes tooth loss and  bad breath.

Most of the bad breath cases are caused by  an oral problem. Only 10 percent of cases may be related to a  chronic postnasal drip.

Diseased gums, broken teeth, cavities , prosthetic devices  or  accumulated food  in hard-to-clean areas and also smoking are among the reasons of mouth odor but the most common  rise of mouth odor is dental plaque and food debris which allows the bacterial growth and tooth decay.
